From
1990 till 2003, crude steel production in the Middle
east has grown by about 6% per year compared to just
0.8% increase in world Production, and thus making this
region one of the fastest growing producers in the
world.
In 2002, the total production of finished steel
products in the region were close to 31 million tons,
attaining 3.8% of the global production .Out of these 31
million tons, 23 million tons were in long products. In
the next 5 years, the total steel production is expected
to increase to 26 million tons of long products and 13
million tons of flat products. |
